Edisto Artist Launches New Web Site
May 1st, 2008If you’ve ever wondered who painted the picture of the Edisto Realty office on our home page, it’s well known low country artist Doug Grier.
Doug is an Edisto resident and his work can be seen at www.douggrier.com
Doug's work is present in galleries, museums and private collections all over the country including the Greenville County Museum of Art, Fuji Film, Inc and McDonald's corporate headquarter’s collection. That puts us here at Edisto Realty in heady company.
But the fact is that Doug is a neighbor and friend. He draws much of his inspiration from this beautiful island we call home… venturing out occasionally into the southwest with its intriguing mix of colors and light. Light and color play a crucial role in his low country work as well as you will see if you visit his new web site.
If you’re on the island Fish or Cut Bait Gallery sells his work and for serious art lovers he welcomes phone calls and e mail inquiries. Doug can be reached at 843-869-2288 or at dgrier@prodigy.net . Should you loose his contact information he, like Edisto Realty, is an active member of the Edisto Island Chamber of Commerce.
But - like many of us - Doug’s most at home on the banks of one of Edisto’s creeks watching a great blue heron take flight or studying the play of shadows as sun sets on one of the island’s old buildings. While we're usually fishing or just relaxing he's watching it all with an artist's eye. His Charleston works capture the beauty of it’s hidden gardens and his Harbourtown series reflect the ever changing low country weather. His painting of "Trinty", our much loved Episcopal chapel which is on the National Historic Register, captures it's charm as no photograph can.
We’d encourage you to visit Doug's new site and consider adding a giclee, print or original artwork to your home. What better reminder of your time here on Edisto than a gorgeous low country painting. It will make you want to return to Edisto, where families come to play.
